A shared school-community model
- During 2025–26, DWUL Foundation delivered 500+ programs, supported 5,200+ student registrations, and worked with 50+ schools and 50+ local program providers through its district-scale work.
- Across 2014–26, DWUL Foundation delivered 2,500+ programs, supported 30,000+ student registrations and 3,000+ students through subsidies, and engaged more than 60 local program providers.
- The Afterschool Guide helps school administrators, PACs, and teachers access vetted programs that can operate in schools between 3–5 pm.
- DWUL.io supports program discovery, listings, registration, payment, and reporting for families, schools, and providers.
What schools can access
Programs, tools, and administrative support
- A network of vetted community programs offered in schools at discounted or subsidized rates.
- Support to find, plan, and book programs, camps, and services while reducing paperwork.
- DWUL tools for program listing, registration, payment, and reporting.
- An optional SD43 school Provider account for staff or PAC registration, with no monthly fee and no fee for free programs.
Provider vetting
How Program Partners are reviewed
- Providers submit a partnership application to Afterschool Guide and the SD43 Community Connections partnership.
- Not every applicant is eligible to join the vetted network.
- Providers and instructors must have valid Criminal Record Checks completed within the applicable three-year period.
- Providers must carry liability insurance or be covered as additional insured under DWUL policies.
- Programs adopt a community-access strategy, with space for vulnerable families when minimum enrolment is reached.
Community safety
Policies and guidelines
- Providers must follow partnership safety policies to retain vetted status.
- Instructors plan for traffic and arrive at least 15 minutes before the session.
- Instructors stay until every child is picked up and contact parents promptly when pickup is late.
- Behavioural or safety issues are reported to DWUL-SD43 and the school partner in the student’s best interest.
Health procedures
Program providers follow current school and public-health guidance
- Bring appropriate cleaning supplies and sanitize shared equipment and high-touch surfaces.
- Follow applicable school-district and public-health requirements.
- Use frequent handwashing or sanitizing and maintain sensible distancing when required.
