School District Partnership

After more than four years of piloting an online platform for community-based education, DWUL and SD43 established an MOU to make the approach available across the district’s schools.

In the two years before March 2020, DWUL facilitated more than 400 programs and 5,000 registrations with 25 schools and 20 program partners.

• How can all schools and families access the programs they need after school and in the community?
• How can families and schools better help themselves when nothing else is available?
• How can the culture and values learned from Community Schools extend to all schools?
• How can technology reduce cost and workload while improving efficiency and capacity?
• How can vulnerability be understood more broadly than income alone?

• Free for free programs and low-cost for fee-based programs.
• Simple link sharing, automated reports, and less paperwork.
• Available to program providers, school administrators, coordinators, and managers.

• Schools can access programs vetted by Afterschool Guide and the District.
• The partnership recruits, reviews, and onboards providers while supplying registration and administrative support.
• Provider partners can reserve or donate program spaces to support vulnerable families.

• Use online registration and automated reporting for school-run activities.
• Connect with vetted programs for Community School programming.
• Refer families to DWUL when suitable programs and services are unavailable internally.

• Gather, verify, and list programs and services for children and youth ages 0–18.
• Support both free and fee-based activities so families can see the broadest range of options.
• Allow community partners to keep information current.

• Bring applications, school requests, onboarding, and learning modules into one coordinated experience.
• Support new and existing school partners, providers, and instructors as people and roles change.
• Create a consistent foundation of safety, process, and shared expectations.
