Program vetting

Review and approval comes first

Programs must be vetted and approved by the SD43 Community Healthy Living team. Reviews include background checks and assessments of program structure, cost, and fit for SD43 schools and families.

Ongoing process

How requests move during the school year

  • School administrators, and sometimes Parent Advisory Councils, plan programs based on student and family needs.
  • Schools can request programs directly from a Provider or through the Afterschool Guide Request Programs page.
  • Afterschool Guide may share appropriate provider information or make introductions when a school asks for suggestions. Schools retain the decision.
Optional outreach

Providers may introduce programs directly to schools

SD43 permits approved providers to contact schools directly, introduce themselves, and build relationships. In outreach, identify your collaboration with SD43-Afterschool Guide and DWUL.

  • Include a concise description, benefits, and program highlights.
  • State the number and length of sessions, total or per-session cost, and grade or age range.
  • List room or space requirements, equipment, supplies, and what participants need to bring.
  • Include direct contact information and the Afterschool Guide Request Programs link.
School autonomy

Schools make the final decision

  • Each school has complete autonomy over planning and booking based on interests, needs, space, and schedule.
  • The SD43 Community Healthy Living team and Afterschool Guide do not dictate school choices.
  • Schools may book directly with providers, coordinate through SD43, use Afterschool Guide, or choose another approach.
  • Approval and platform participation do not guarantee program bookings or registrations.
